‘Stable’ Chelsea face quiet summer – Jose
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says the club’s summer transfer business will be kept to a minimum even if other clubs spend big.
Last summer saw the Blues boss bring in midfielder Cesc Fabregas and striker Diego Costa – two of the highest-profile signings of the close season.
Both played key roles in helping Chelsea win the Premier League title, Costa scoring 19 goals so far and Fabregas contributing with 18 assists.
But Mourinho says they will not be changing their transfer plans even if their title rivals make “10 signings”.
“We are in a good situation,” Mourinho explained. “We have good stability in our squad and don’t need dramatic changes.
“We know what we want and it’s not much. I like my squad very much – a young squad with space to improve.
“I am in a different position [this summer]. Last season I was more than keen for the club to sell players so I could buy players. In this moment I am happy to keep players.”
