Southampton boss Koeman hails Bertrand
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman hailed Ryan Bertrand after the on-loan Chelsea man scored in the 2-1 win against QPR.
Bertrand put the Saints ahead midway through the second half – his first goal since moving to the south coast – and his overall display was hugely impressive.
And Koeman said: “I’m very happy about him. You know if you are a player of Chelsea you have quality.
“He missed a lot of minutes to play and he [now] has the possibility to play for us and I’m very happy because in a very fast way he has adapted to our way of playing and the ambition of the club.”
The victory continued Southampton’s excellent run. Tipped by many to struggle at the start of the season, they are second in the table and enjoying their best start to a top-flight campaign since 1988.
“Credit to the players. It was a working winning game and if you show that character, for me as manager, that means a lot about our ambition and spirit,” said Koeman.
