Times say Simeone has snubbed Chelsea job
The Times, which recently claimed Chelsea were lining up Diego Simeone as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte, say he is not interested in the job.
The newspaper say Simeone has made it clear through intermediaries that he does not want to be considered by Chelsea because he plans to see out the remaining 18 months of his contract at Atletico Madrid.
But The Times also say Simeone has indicated that he would consider any approach from Manchester United.
It comes amid continued speculation over Conte’s future, with reports suggesting he could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Conte said on Friday: “There has been a lot of speculation and a lot of rumours about me.
“The only thing I can tell you is that I have 18 months of a contract and my will is to stay here. I don’t see any problems about this.
“We signed a three-year contract and the desire is to continue and to respect this contract.
“There has been speculation that I will be sacked, but my focus is on continuing with my team.
“I trust in my work and this is the only thing I trust. This is the only way that brought me to be one of the best coaches and managers.”
