Maurizio Sarri believes Cesc Fabregas can play a significant part in Chelsea’s season.
Fabregas recently returned to the side after injury, coming on as a substitute against PAOK in the Europa League and then playing against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
He operated in the deep-lying position Jorginho has impressed in for the Blues this season.
And head coach Sarri has no doubt Fabregas can perform that task when asked to.
“Yes I think so. I think he did very well in the last 30 minutes in Greece and very well for 90 minutes against Liverpool,” Sarri said.
“He has to improve his physical condition of course, but I think he is a great option in this position.”
And Sarri does not believe the slightly different midfield role requires Fabregas to radically change the way he plays.
“Not too much. Cesc is very good at moving the ball – more than Jorginho,” said Sarri. “We don’t need to change the way of football with Fabregas.”
