Sarri explains Higuain’s importance to Chelsea
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says new signing Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival has already made a difference to the team.
The striker scored his first two Chelsea goals in the 5-0 demolition of bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield last Saturday.
But the Argentine’s link-up play, movement and attitude was equally as impressive in a stylish win – albeit against a poor Terriers side.
“Gonzalo is a great player,” Sarri said prior to Sunday’s game away against Manchester City.
“He is very important for us. He is determined, so the impact he had on players was very good for us.
“He did very well in Madrid, in Naples. Maybe not very well in Milan. But he is great player and very useful for Eden Hazard. They are really suitable to play together.”
But despite Higuain’s arrival, Sarri said Chelsea are not in contention to challenge for the Premier League title this season even if they beat Pep Guardiola’s City.
“At the moment I think we will be able to fight for the top four in this season, no more I don’t think,” the Italian explained.
“We can win something of course but in the Premier League there is a fight between Liverpool and Manchester City. Man City, in my opinion is the best team in Europe.”
