Loic Remy has returned to Chelsea to receive treatment on an ankle problem – just 10 days after joining Crystal Palace on loan.
The French striker, 29, suffered the injury in training on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
Remy, who has not played in the Premier League this season, was in line to make his Eagles debut in their match against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Palace have confirmed that Chelsea will oversee Remy’s treatment and that the two clubs are liaising as they monitor his progress.
“It is obviously a blow for the player and for us as a squad,” said Palace manager Alan Pardew.
“He has just joined us and we were hoping he would play a big part in the team moving forward.
“He was looking great in training and this was an innocuous injury which can sometimes happen.”
