Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has refused to confirm the club are trying to sign West Ham striker Andy Carroll.
The 28-year-old has had another injury-plagued season, starting just eight games.
But the England international scored twice for the Hammers in a recent 2-1 win over West Brom and is among the many players to be linked with a possible move to Chelsea during this month’s transfer know.
When asked if Carroll would joining the Blues, Conte replied that he did not know.
“I give my opinion to the club but the club then decide the players we can buy or sell,” Conte added.
“It is the club that signs the players, not me. The recruitment is not my job. The club try to do the best to improve this team.
“I am a coach. I give my opinion. The club decide the players to arrive, the players to sell and to buy.”
