QPR are discussing personal terms with Alex following talks with Chelsea over the Brazilian defender.
Paris St-Germain are among a number of other clubs to have expressed an interest in the 29-year-old since he was transfer-listed at Stamford Bridge.
But new Rangers manager Mark Hughes is hoping Alex can be persuaded to remain in west London.
Hughes is also looking to sign versatile defender Nedum Onoua from Manchester City next week and has lodged a bid for Blackburn’s Chris Samba.
But Blackburn have today reiterated that Samba is not for sale, despite the centre-back saying he has handed in a transfer request.
