Ryan Giggs has hailed Ethan Ampadu after the Chelsea youngster impressed on his first competitive start for Wales.
Ampadu was outstanding as Giggs’ side crushed the Republic of Ireland 4-1 in a Nations League match at the Cardiff City Stadium.
“Ethan is a talent, but not only as a player, but as a person. He is so measured and mature and takes it all in his stride. I am really pleased for him,” said Wales boss Giggs.
The Exeter-born Ampadu, 17, recently returned to action after recovering from an ankle injury.
He is no longer eligible to switch his international allegiance to England, having now played in a competitive match for the Welsh.
Ampadu has made seven first-team appearances for Chelsea since being signed from Exeter last summer.
