‘Positive’ Mourinho insists Chelsea have been unlucky
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted his side deserve more than their four-point haul from their opening four games of the season.
A 2-2 draw with Swansea City has been followed by a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, a 3-2 success away at West Brom and a shock 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace.
Mourinho said: “In every match we played better than the result. Every result we got was less than we did to get the result.
“Even against West Brom where we won, the 3-2 victory looks a very very tight match but it wasn’t.
“The same with defeats against Palace and City. The circumstances of the match gave us results worse than the performance.”
The champions face Everton on Saturday and Mourinho is in defiant mood.
“We are strong; we are together,” he added. “I believe in the players and they believe in me so we are positive.
“We need points. But every game is difficult and Everton is no different. Every team is getting better, every team has economical power and good players.
“Every point is more difficult to get. We go with intention to win match but we respect the opponents.”
