Portsmouth interested in Chelsea youngster

Portsmouth are interested in the potential signing of Chelsea youngster Ruben Sammut, Portsmouth News reports.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who is coming towards the end of his Chelsea contract, recently trained with Pompey.

Asked if Sammut might return to the south-coast club, Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett said: “He may do. If we can get a friendly game we may build on it.

“He is a good player and he is someone at the end of the season we may be interested in.

“I can’t really speak for Chelsea or what they’re necessarily going to do.

“But he had a good week and we were impressed with him when he was here.”
