Cech responds to reports he is set to take Chelsea role
Petr Cech has responded to reports he is set to take a key role at Chelsea by insisting he has not yet made a decision on his future.
The goalkeeper, who spent 11 years with Chelsea and is now at Arsenal, will retire from playing after the Europa League final between the two clubs.
He has been tipped to take over the role at Chelsea previously held by Michael Emenalo, who left his job as technical director at Stamford Bridge in November 2017 to join Monaco.
In a post on Twitter, Cech said his focus remained on next week’s final in Baku.
He wrote: “Despite the news today as I had already said to everybody before, I’ll make decision about my future after the last game. Now my sole focus is to win the EL with Arsenal.”
Cech made more than 400 appearances for Chelsea, where he won 13 trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
