Romeu scores in Chelsea Under-21 game

Oriol Romeu scored for Chelsea’s Under-21 side and Tammy Abraham netted twice as they beat Aldershot Town 5-1 in a pre-season friendly.

Spanish midfielder Romeu, who spent last season on loan at Stuttgart, played just over an hour of the game at the Recreation Ground, as did Nathan Ake and John Swift.

Aldershot took an early lead through Jim Stevenson’s header but Romeu equalised with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Chelsea stepped up a gear in the second half and goals from Abraham and Jay Dasilva put them in control.

Alex Kimomya made it 4-1 on 86 minutes before Abraham scored with a clever lob two minutes later.
