Omeruo given long-term Chelsea contract

Chelsea have given youngster Kenneth Omeruo a new four-year contract.

The 20-year-old defender, part of the Nigeria World Cup squad, spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough.

He made 14 appearances for Boro, having returned from a shoulder injury to feature for Chelsea’s Under-21 side in November.

Omeruo, who can also play at right-back, said: “To play at such a fantastic club is a real honour for me and I’ll be working incredibly hard to be successful.”
