New injury blow for Chelsea’s Chilwell

Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell could be facing another lengthy spell out with a a knee injury. 

Chilwell, who was previously sidelined by a long-term knee problem and has missed much of this season with hamstring trouble, picked up another injury during the recent draw at Brentford.

He completed the full 90 minutes against the Bees but will miss Monday’s visit of Newcastle and must see a specialist.



And boss Mauricio Pochettino is unsure how long the England left-back is likely to be unavailable for.

Pochettino said: “We need to wait and he will see a specialist. We hope it is not a big issue, but after eight or nine months at the club I prefer to wait.

“He hurt his knee in the game and it is a similar thing to what happened to (Christopher) Nkunku and he cannot train.”

Meanwhile, Levi Colwill is also set to miss the Newcastle game and Conor Gallagher is a doubt.

Gallagher has been ill, while Colwill has been struggling with a toe injury.
