Chelsea fans on Twitter have been reacting to the 2-0 defeat at Everton, where the visitors dominated the first half but switched off in the second and were punished.
The result was a big blow for the Blues in the battle for a top-four finish and increases the pressure on head coach Maurizio Sarri.
The performance of Marcos Alonso – and Sarri’s decision to select him instead of Emerson Palmieri – caused particular dismay among Blues fans.
Emerson has impressed when given a chance, whereas Alonso has been seriously out of form this season.
The Spaniard was poor again at Goodison Park, where he gave away the penalty which led to the all-important second goal.
Chelsea’s defeat left them floundering in sixth place and potentially needing to win the Europa League in order to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Both Alonso and Dave are not good as full backs. Dave may be good defending but very bad attacking. Can't even make a good cross to teammates. Alonso is bad defending and average attacking. Other group of players are merely skillful but not ruthless in handling their opponent and they all lack that never say die spirit. I mean they lack the fighting spirit especially when they are down. We need new full backs who can defend and attack well, we need hungry wingers who can move the ball quickly into the opponent box, we need a workaholic striker and a creative midfielder not a skill kovacic.
