Mourinho loses appeal over fine and suspended ban
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has had his appeal against a £50,000 fine and a suspended one-game stadium ban dismissed by the Football Association.
Mourinho was given the punishment for comments made after his team’s 3-1 defeat by Southampton, when he said officials were afraid to award his side a penalty.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho said the Blues were “always punished” by officials because “there is always a question mark” from the media.
The ruling means another similar breach, before 13 October next year, will result in the stadium ban being activated.
Mourinho will be subject to a separate stadium ban for Saturday’s game at Stoke if he chooses not to appeal that sanction, which was given to him after he admitted a charge over his language and behaviour during the defeat by West Ham on 24 October.
