Mourinho explains Chelsea’s poor display
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho suggested his team were jaded in their Champions League defeat against Basel.
Schalke’s draw with Steaua Bucharest meant Mourinho’s men reached the knockput stage with a game to spare despite losing 1-0 in Switzerland.
Mourinho said: “It was a bad performance, a deserved defeat. But because of other results, we qualify. That is the only positive thing from this night.
“I did not like anything from the first minute. We started with a defensive mistake.
“The team only had a bit of stability and control in the second half. I felt the team was tired, they paid the price of the international break and a crucial match against West Ham.
“There was no reaction from the players, and wrong decisions. I am not sad with them, as I understand they were not fresh.”
More reaction to follow later.

Moronho!!!!!
Where to start!!!! Not playing Mata when Lamps looked like a ton of shit….. Continuously selecting Ivan over Azpi…. Starting with Etoo over Torres
Cech was the only saving grace. Ramires and Mikel had shockers!!
Should have lost by 2 goals or more…. absolutely shambolic!!
By far the poorest performance I have seen in a while. We will not progress beyond the round of 16 based on this performance.
