Mourinho admits City deserved their win

Boss Jose Mourinho admitted the best team won after Chelsea’s FA Cup exit. 

Goals from Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri took Manchester City through to the quarter-finals and gave them some revenge for the Blues’ potentially crucial recent league victory at the Etihad Stadium.

“City played much better than us and deserved to win. The better team won,” said Mourinho.

“Give credit to my players because today proved that to win twice against City and to win here is very difficult to do. Credit for what my team did two weeks ago.”

Mourinho also suggested that tiredness played a part in a listless display by Chelsea, who fielded a strong line-up but struggled to create chances.

“Today it was clear there was a different freshness between the teams,” he argued.

“One team played a few days ago and another team played last week and had one week without competitive football. It was easy to see the difference.”
