MK Dons manager Karl Robinson wants to sign Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford on a year-long loan next season.
The 19-year-old forward has impressed during his time with the League One club and has scored in two of his last three appearances.
“I’ve got my fingers crossed we can do a deal sooner rather than later, because he’s top drawer,” Robinson told West London Sport.
“He knows I love him and that I’ll coach him and make him a better player, but it’s in the hands of [Chelsea academy manager] Neil Bath and Chelsea now.”
Bamford, signed by the Blues from Nottingham Forest last year, demonstrated his potential with a number of impressive performances for Chelsea’s Under-21 side prior to his loan move.
And Robinson has no doubt the player is capable of reaching the very top.
He said: “Patrick is someone I foresee in years to come playing at the highest level – the power and the pace of him is scary.
“I think it’s important we keep developing these players as a country. It’s important for the future of the English game for these players to get real game time at places like MK Dons.”
