Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic injured himself at Wembley during Sunday’s post-match Capital One Cup final celebrations but is expected to be fit to face Paris St-Germain next week.
The Serbian was banned for the victory over Tottenham and was also suspended for Wednesday’s vital Premier League win over West Ham.
But boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that Matic would have missed the game at Upton Park anyway.
“He got an injury celebrating the cup, I’m not kidding,” Mourinho said.
“It’s not a big injury, but if he was not suspended, he couldn’t play. On Saturday or Sunday he will train again.”
Chelsea face the French side in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. The first leg ended 1-1.
