Mata optimistic ahead of crucial clash
Juan Mata says he remains optimistic Chelsea will reach the knockout phase of the Champions League.
They will become the first holders to exit the tournament at the group stage unless they win against Nordsjaelland at Stamford Bridge and Shakhtar Donetsk beat Juventus.
But Mata is hopeful Shakhtar will do his side a favour even though a draw would take both Juve and the Ukrainian champions through.
“I still believe we will have a chance to get through if we win,” said the Blues playmaker.
“I think we have a chance to get through. First of all we have to do our job, which is to win.
“Then hopefully Shakhtar will win against Juventus as they won against us. It’s not easy to play at their stadium, with the hard atmosphere.”
