Chelsea confirm Van Ginkel injury woe
Chelsea say midfielder Marco van Ginkel is likely to be out for around six months after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage.
The 20-year-old sustained the injury during Tuesday evening’s Capital One Cup win against Swindon.
He went off after 10 minutes of the match at the County Ground and Chelsea’s medical staff felt the initial signs were not good.
And the club have confirmed that Van Ginkel has had surgery and is facing a long spell on the sidelines.
The injury is an unfortunate blow for the young Dutchman, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Vitesse Arnhem in July.
