Cavani could make debut against Chelsea
Edinson Cavani could make his Manchester United debut when Chelsea visit Old Trafford on Saturday.
The 33-year-old striker joined United from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day, but has yet to feature after fulfilling Covid-19 quarantine protocols.
But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the experienced Uruguayan could be ready, and fellow forward Mason Greenwood and Harry Maguire could return.
Solskjaer said: “Edinson needs to tick all the boxes that he’s gone through in his programme to be ready and make an impact.
“I think his last preparation is going to be today and then I will have a discussion with him.”
Solskjaer compared Chelsea’s start to the season with his side’s own patchy form, but believed the Blues were beginning to settle into their stride.
United have lost both of their league games at Old Trafford this season, including a 6-1 thrashing by Spurs, and have won just once in their last five home games, but will be buoyed by a morale-boosting Champions League win at PSG on Tuesday.
“Like many of us, there have been good games, some less good performances and I think football is settling,” Solskjaer added.
“Teams are getting into their shape and we know it’s going to be a tough game.
“There were four games last season (between Chelsea and United) and I think four or five the season before so it’s two teams that know each other really well.”
