Romelu Lukaku got the only goal as Chelsea began their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win against Singha All-Stars in Bangkok.
Lukaku, who led Chelsea’s attack in the first half, scored with a 34th-minute penalty after Wallace was brought down in the box.
Wallace made his debut along with new signings Andre Schurrle and Marko van Ginkel.
The Blues, playing their first match since boss Jose Mourinho’s return, almost went ahead when Michael Essien – back after a loan spell at Real Madrid – saw an early header deflected onto the post.
Ramires also went close, heading narrowly wide from a corner by Kevin De Bruyne, who then fired over.
The lively Wallace looked hugely impressive at right-back and created an opening for Lukaku, whose low shot was saved.
But when Wallace was fouled after being found by De Bruyne, Lukaku made no mistake, calmly slotting home the resulting spot-kick.
Chelsea made wholesale changes at the interval and Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Demba Ba all went close to doubling the lead in the second half.
