Luiz could be available for United clash
David Luiz could be available for Chelsea’s trip to face Manchester United next week.
The Brazil defender was troubled by a hamstring problem during Chelsea’s pre-season campaign.
He subsequently missed the Premier League opener against Hull on Sunday and will also be sidelined for Wednesday evening’s visit of Aston Villa.
But Blues boss Jose Mourinho believes Luiz may be back in the squad for Monday’s game at Old Trafford.
Luiz has resumed light training and his condition will be assessed later this week.
Mourninho said: “He should be available for next week.
“He is not yet with the group. He is training with fitness coaches and physios. He is better, but not yet ready.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho has refused to be drawn on reports he could sign former Barcelona forward Samuel Eto’o if Chelsea are unable to agree a deal with United for Wayne Rooney.
“We have a plan B and a plan C. Don’t ask me names, because it’s difficult to speak about players from other clubs,” he said.
Eto’o, 32, currently with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, played under Mourinho at Inter Milan.
