Liverpool confirm signing of Chelsea youngster Solanke
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of teenage striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.
The 19-year-old old’s Blues contract expires this summer and he rejected a new deal in order to move to Anfield.
He is too young to move on a Bosman free transfer, so a tribunal will decide a compensation sum unless the clubs can agree fee.
As he is older than 17, he can sign a professional contract so Liverpool’s two-year transfer embargo on signing academy players from other English clubs will not apply.
Solanke, who will officially join Liverpool when his Chelsea contract ends on 1 July, made just one senior appearance for the Blues, as a substitute in a Champions League victory against NK Maribor in October 2014.
He spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances.
Solanke is currently with the England squad at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea.
