Chelsea went seven points clear at the top of the Premier League with a resounding victory at Leicester. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 3-0 win.
Hardly called upon but, when he was, he was alert and did well to push away a dangerous low cross from Jamie Vardy.
Bounced back from a below-par display against Spurs with the kind of fine performance he has regularly produced this season. He was solid defensively and got forward too, including in the build up to the opening goal.
Aside from an iffy spell in the first half, Luiz was calm and composed at the back.
Composed in both boxes – as he showed with some typically slick footwork which almost led to a Chelsea goal from a corner.
Lively on the right, where he caused Ben Chilwell problems. Served up a number of crosses, including one which was hammered wide by Marcos Alonso.
A terrific display in midfield, underlining how important he is to Chelsea and how much he is missed by his former side Leicester.
Also did well in midfield. Gave the ball away sloppily at times but made amends by often being the team’s attacking driving force. Covered loads of ground.
A game to remember for Alonso; two goals and so nearly a hat-trick when his volley from Moses’ cross flashed inches wide. The Spaniard got the better of Marcus Albrighton at both ends of the pitch.
Much more influential in the second half than the first and rounded off the victory by heading in Chelsea’s third following a clever move.
Another who stepped up a gear after the break. Played a crucial role in Pedro’s goal.
Not at his best, partly because of the role he was performing for the team in the absence of Diego Costa. Nevertheless, he had his moments, and showed his class by teeing up Alonso for the opening goal.
