Fulham manager Martin Jol has hailed Chelsea’s Frank Lampard as one of the best midfielders of the last 40 years.
Ahead of Wednesday’s derby between Fulham and the Blues, the Whites boss laughed off suggestions Lampard could move to Craven Cottage when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
He said: “I feel that Lampard is the most productive midfield player in England in the last 30 or 40 years.
“Every club would love to have him. He is fit and he is a good character.
“It is nice to be asked if we would take him at Fulham but I think he would have a smile on his face if he listened to me say I’d love to have him.
“It’s hypothetical – he will never play for Fulham. But he is a living legend at Chelsea, and in the end I feel they will keep him.”
