Frank Lampard said Mason Mount’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City perfectly illustrated the young midfielder’s talents.
Mount impressed playing for Lampard on loan at Derby last season, scoring 11 goals in 44 appearances for the Championship club.
And the 20-year-old has started both of the Premier League games so far this season, scoring Chelsea’s first goal of the league season to earn a lead that was cancelled out after the break.
“The epitome of his talents is the goal,” Lampard said.
“He was great off the ball, had the energy to close down and the quality to finish it.
“In the opening period he could have scored two more goals and he will get better and better.
“I am delighted for him on that level, even though he will be disappointed we didn’t get the win.”
