Lampard pleased with ‘positive move’ in Loftus-Cheek’s recovery
Frank Lampard says Ruben Loftus-Cheek is making good progress in his recovery from injury.
The England midfielder finally seemed to be establishing himself as a Chelsea first-team regular when he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon towards the end of last season.
But he has taken an important step on the road to a return to action by beginning some light jogging.
“Ruben we can’t give a (return) date on but he’s outside jogging slowly, so that’s a positive move this week. It’s good to see him outside,” Lampard said.
“We’ll see how that goes over the next weeks – probably months, but weeks as well.”
Blues boss Lampard has also confirmed that Antonio Rudiger remains sidelined for Saturday’s game against Brighton but Andreas Christensen is back in the squad.
