Chelsea manager Frank Lampard insists Christian Pulisic is “well in our plans” despite overlooking the American winger for the past two matches.
Pulisic, who joined from Borussia Dortmund for £58m in the summer, featured in the first four Premier League games of the season, starting all bar the 4-0 defeat against Manchester United.
But the 21-year-old was left out of the side for the 5-2 away victory against Wolves on Saturday, with Willian preferred.
The Brazilian also started in the Champions League loss to Valencia on Tuesday, and Pedro was the man Lampard turned to when Mason Mount had to come off because of an ankle injury.
“He is in the plans,” Lampard said of Pulisic. “We have got a squad. We have wingers to choose from with the way we are playing.
“With Pedro’s experience in the Champions League there is the choice to make but he [Pulisic] is well in the plans.”
Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham says Chelsea must focus on Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Liverpool rather than dwell on the defeat against Valencia.
Liverpool also lost, to Napoli, and both sides will be looking to bounce back this weekend.
Abraham said: “We just have to move on. We’ve got a massive game on Sunday. We look forward to Sunday and making things right.
“We have to move on. We can’t dwell on a loss. We have another massive game on Sunday that we have to focus on.
“We just have to take our anger out against Liverpool.”
