Lampard keen to discuss new Blues deal

Frank Lampard has reiterated that he is keen to discuss a new contract at Chelsea.

The England midfielder, whose current deal expires next year, has been linked moves to a number of clubs, including LA Galaxy.

But he has always maintained that he would like to stay at Stamford Bridge, where he remains a hugely popular figure among Blues fans.

“I would like to end my career there. I feel I can play at the top level for a good few more years,” he said.

“I’d like to sit down and speak with them. I’d love to carry on but it’s a club decision to come and sit down with me.”

Contact talks did take place early last season but Lampard subsequently fell out of favour with Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked as manager in March.

Since then Lampard, 34, has been rejuvenated and played a pivotal role in the club’s Champions League and FA Cup triumphs.

“It went from being the worst season I had at the club personally to the greatest season in Chelsea’s history,” he added.

“There are now a lot of changes at Chelsea and I’d love to be involved.”

  • Its only a hypocrisy to say that lampard is still doing well. With lampard in d middle cfc play will always be boring and d percentage of his success tackle and work rate is now nothing to write home about. Legend though.
