Lampard hails ‘outstanding’ Gilmour after Chelsea youngster’s return

Frank Lampard hailed Billy Gilmour after the youngster impressed on his return to the Chelsea starting line-up.

Gilmour, back in action after a knee injury, played the full 90 minutes as Lampard’s side completed their Champions League group campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to FK Krasnodar.


“I thought Billy was outstanding,” the Blues boss declared.

“The way he played today and how he trains, I see him growing with us. He’s going to be a Chelsea player, it’s just about making sure the pathway is right for him.”

There was praise too for Tino Anjorin, who made his full debut and was lively on the left flank.

Lampard said: “He’s shown a real ability to step straight into the level in terms of his abilities on the ball, the way he receives the ball, the way he moves with the ball very quickly, his physical attributes to protect the ball and run.

“I feel the more he trains with us, the better he’ll get because it’s a really good environment for him.”

Lampard also revealed he expects Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi to be back in a couple of weeks.

Both players have had scans since picking up hamstring injuries.
