Frank Lampard has reiterated that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will remain sidelined for some time.
Blues boss Lampard recently confirmed that the England midfielder has suffered “a few setbacks” in his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
And Lampard indicated at a news conference on Friday that Loftus-Cheek will remain out for months rather than weeks.
“Probably more than weeks at the moment,” said Lampard, who also confirmed that Fikayo Tomori will miss Saturday’s game against Bournemouth as he is still recovering from a hip problem.
Lampard was also asked about reports Chelsea want to buy their former defender Nathan Ake back from Bournemouth.
“In terms of the back four, the centre of defence that we have, I’m very happy,” Lampard said.
“It (new signings) wouldn’t be anything I consider until I feel otherwise and at the minute we can do no business.”
