Kante ‘fine’ for Champions League clash
N’Golo Kante will be “fine” for Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, according to Frank Lampard.
Kante, who recently returned to action following a long lay-off, did not feature at Wolves, where the Blues were beaten 1-0 in their first match since Lampard returned to the club to take over as interim boss.
But the Frenchman is expected to be involved in Wednesday’s quarter-final first leg.
Lampard said: “N’Golo will be fine, as it stands now.
“Kante is a managing one. He’s fit, but we know that after his injury the idea of game, game, game is too much.”
Meanwhile, Mason Mount was also absent at Molineux as he continues to struggle with an abdominal injury.
Lampard explained: “Mason had a feeling in his pelvic area – the injury that he’s been carrying. He’s trained but was struggling a bit.”
