‘Last-minute decisions’ to be made on Kante and Silva
N’Golo Kante and Thiago Silva will be assessed before Thomas Tuchel names his squad for Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham.
Both players are out of isolation after recently testing positive for Covid-19.
But their fitness levels will determine whether they are involved against Spurs – and boss Tuchel admits it would be a “gamble” to select them given that they have not been able to train.
“There are no new injuries, which is good news for us,” Tuchel said.
“We have to wait for last-minute decisions on Thiago and N’Golo.
“I have to wait to see if they train and then let’s see how they respond to the training. If we do it it’s a gamble.”
Chelsea’s 2-0 lead from the first leg means they are strong favourites to reach Wembley, but Tuchel is keen to guard against complacency.
“We play another tough match in a tough stadium against a very good team,” he said.
“We need to be prepared. Nobody knows what’s going to happen. We need to be fully aware of everything and have to adapt to what happens on the pitch.
“We had a very good match in the first leg but it’s over, it’s the past, and we expect the best possible Tottenham side.
“We have to be spot-on tomorrow. Forget the first result and do it again.”
