Chelsea trio doubtful for Watford game

Jorginho, Reece James and Timo Werner are doubts for Chelsea’s game at Watford.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed that all three players are nursing knocks and will need to be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s match at Vicarage Road.

Tuchel also confirmed that N’Golo Kante remains sidelined along with Mateo Kovacic.


“We have some players in doubt,” said Tuchel.

“We need more time for examinations and to evaluate the status.

“Reece James, Jorginho and Timo Werner all trained with us, (but) there will be some last-minute decisions.”

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku suffered no adverse reaction after returning to action as a substitute in Sunday’s draw with Manchester United following an ankle problem.

Lukaku is expected to be involved again against the Hornets.

Tuchel explained: “He came on and has continued to train. There’s no reaction with his injured ankle.

“He is ready to progress – progress in minutes.”
