Eden Hazard could return to the Chelsea squad for the London derby at Arsenal a week on Sunday.
The Belgian has not featured since picking up a groin injury during Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Crystal Palace earlier this month.
He will remain sidelined for Saturday’s home game against Everton but will be recalled for the Arsenal match – if he can prove his fitness next week.
Hazard has resumed light training but boss Guus Hiddink wants him to take part in at least a couple of full training sessions before Hazard is considered for selection.
Hiddink explained: “He has been on the (training) pitch working hard and I think and hope that in the coming weeks we will have him in full training sessions and we’ll decide whether he can join us for the Arsenal game.
“We have to be a little bit careful that he doesn’t have another setback. That’s why I say he must have some tough training sessions. From Tuesday to Thursday he must have intense training sessions.”
Meanwhile, Hiddink says he is pleased with Loic Remy’s fitness levels following the French forward’s recent return to the squad after an injury.
“I’m happy that Remy has now been working a full week with high intensity. I think that’s good,” Hiddink said.
