Former Chelsea defender given new coaching role by club

Chelsea have announced that Andy Myers has been promoted to assistant Under-21 coach for the coming season.

The former Blues defender made 106 appearances for the club and since retiring as a player has been with the academy as a coach.

Myers, from Hounslow, also had a brief spell playing for Brentford.

The new Under-21 squad’s first game is a friendly on Saturday at non-League Northwood.
