Under-pressure Sarri issues plea to Chelsea fans
Criticism from supporters does not worry Maurizio Sarri, but the Chelsea boss says fans must back the players.
Sarri was loudly booed by his own fans after a dire display in the fortunate 2-1 win over Cardiff City on Sunday.
“It’s not helpful for my players,” the Italian said.
“For me, it’s not a big problem. I’m not happy, but it’s not a big problem. I am 60, so I can understand.
“They [the fans] have to help the players during the match. After the match, they can say anything, but during the match, I hope they will be able to help my players.”
Sarri said, that despite the constant speculation about his future and mounting pressure from some fans, he is still enjoying his job and wants to stay.
“As I said before, I am not happy, but I can understand,” he added. “It can happen. It’s normal, I think.
“We need to improve. We need to play better. We want to try to change their opinion.”
