Chelsea expect John Terry to be sidelined for around 10 days following the injury he suffered during the game against Swansea.
A scan has revealed that the Blues captain, 35, strained ligaments in his foot towards the end of Sunday’s 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium.
It means he will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, where David Luiz could now make his first appearance since the Brazilian’s surprise return to Chelsea from Paris St-Germain.
Speaking after Sunday’s match, Blues boss Antonio Conte insisted he was “not worried” about the former England skipper, describing Terry as “a warrior”.
Having made all three substitutions, Chelsea effectively ended the game with 10 men as Terry limped through the final minutes.
He left the stadium on crutches, prompting fears that he could be sidelined for some time, but the injury does not appear to be overly serious.
