Chelsea not overly reliant on Hazard – Sarri

Chelsea’s excellent start under Maurizio Sarri continues

Maurizio Sarri praised Chelsea for their performance against Liverpool and insisted they are not overly reliant on Eden Hazard’s goals.

Hazard’s sublime first-half opener at Stamford Bridge – his seventh goal of the season – looked like giving the Blues another victory over Liverpool three days after the Belgian’s Carabao Cup winner at Anfield.

But Daniel Sturridge scored a brilliant late equaliser against his former club to preserve the Reds’ unbeaten record in the Premier League this season.

Head coach Sarri reiterated after the 1-1 draw that he believes Hazard can score 40 goals this season.

And he feels the likes of Willian, Pedro and Alvaro Morata will all achieve double figures for the campaign.

Asked about the lack of goals from his strikers, Sarri said: “I am not really worried about it and because we have a winger who is able to score frequently.

“I think at the end of the season we can have four or five players over 10 goals. So it’s not only Hazard.

“Of course Hazard is the first. But I think Pedro, Willian, Morata will be able to score more than 10 goals in the season.”

A win would have put Chelsea second in the table, above Liverpool and level on points with leaders Manchester City.

“I am disappointed because they have scored in the last minute,” Sarri said.

“But I am very happy with the performance and I think a draw is maybe a fair result. The match was wonderful.”
