Boss Frank Lampard said defensive midfield duo Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic were key to Chelsea’s impressive 4-2 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.
Christian Pulisic grabbed a stunning hat-trick but the platform for a dominant win was laid by the pairing in front of the back four.
Lampard said the style of the win meant the fact they conceded two late goals did not annoy him as much as it normally would.
“I am absolutely delighted with 95% of it and that is enough for me,” Lampard told Sky Sports. “I will be the first to criticise sloppy endings and sloppy goals but I can’t today because we were fantastic.”
He added that Kovacic and Jorginho stood out and their midfield displays should be admired because of their “confidence on the ball” and ability to “receive the ball with pressure coming”.
“It is a really tough place to come,” Lampard added, referring to the home side’s direct style.
“It is hard to stop Burnley doing what they do well. They get balls in the box and play for set-pieces. They stick it in and they are bigger than us but I was pleased with how we dealt with it.”
