Abraham double sends Chelsea youngsters through

Tammy Abraham scored twice as Chelsea’s Under-19s beat Dynamo Kiev 3-1 to guarantee qualification for the knockout stages of the Uefa Youth League.

Dynamo started well, with Pavlo Lukyanchuk prodding a good chance wide from close range, but defending champions Chelsea opened the scoring with their first real attack on 25 minutes

After patient build-up play, Mukhtar Ali found space in the left-hand channel and squared for Miro Muheim to slam home.

Chelsea keeper Bradley Collins twice denied the lively Olexiy Schcebetun before the break, but Dynamo took just 45 seconds of the second half to draw level.

Joseph Colley failed to cut out Volodymyr Shepeliev’s through ball and Schcebetun pounced to fire low into the far corner with his left foot.

But parity lasted just 12 minutes as right-back Josh Grant’s inch-perfect cross was powerfully headed in by Abraham, who had scored twice in the reverse fixture in Kiev two weeks ago.

Mykola Shaparenko clipped a curling effort just wide of Collins’ far post as Dynamo sought an equaliser but Chelsea put a gloss on the scoreline in the final minute of added on time when Muheim laid the ball into the path of Abraham and he slotted home.
