Chelsea boss keen for Mount’s future to be resolved

Graham Potter says he hopes Mason Mount’s long-term future at Chelsea is resolved sooner rather than later.

Mount’s representatives remain in talks about a new deal for the England international and there has been speculation that he could leave Stamford Bridge. His current contract expires next year.

Head coach Potter said: “It’s always complicated with negotiations. It’s best that I leave it between Mason and the club – that’s the best way for that to be dealt with.


“As far as I’m concerned, he has been fantastic to work with, an important player for us, and of course I hope it gets resolved quickly.”

There has also been speculation over the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Arsenal striker was left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad and has failed to impress since moving to the Bridge from Barcelona.

“Pierre is in our (regular) squad and remains an important player for us,” Potter said.

“He’s worked hard and he knows the situation at the moment. Nothing is set in stone.

“His attitude has been really, really good and we’ll make an assessment as we go forward.”

Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling look likely to be passed fit for Saturday’s game against Southampton.
