Jose Mourinho has insisted Chelsea have not been considering possible loan signings in case Asmir Begovic becomes unavailable.
Summer signing Begovic is standing in for the injured Thibaut Courtous, who has been sidelined by knee problem.
An injury to Begovic would leave youngster Jamal Blackman as the only goalkeeper in Chelsea’s squad.
With the transfer window closed, one option for Chelsea in that scenario would be to seek Premier League permission to make an emergency loan signing.
There have therefore been reports that the club have drawn up list of potential signings and that it includes Manchester United’s Victor Valdes.
However, when asked if that was the case, Blues boss Mourinho said: “No. We have one goalkeeper injured, we have Begovic and the third goalkeeper becomes the second goalkeeper.
“At the start of the season you expect to have these three goalkeepers. We have lost Courtois for three months, but that’s what we have.”
Courtois has undergone surgery since being injured in training earlier his month. The Belgian is expected to be out until December.
