Mourinho unhappy despite derby victory
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho criticised his players after a below-par performance saw them scrape past a battling QPR side 2-1 in the west London derby.
Eden Hazard’s disputed penalty, which was won and scored by the Belgian, proved the winner at Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho was unhappy.
“My team didn’t play well enough, or as well as I was expecting,” Mourinho said.
“We had periods of good football, but not consistently. I was expecting more.
“I am happy with the points and think we deserved it. But we didn’t play very well.
“We had a good period that ended with the first goal and a period that started after their goal and ended with Rob Green making two or three good saves.
“We had periods for 10 or 15 minutes here and 10 or 15 minutes there. I am not happy.”
Mourinho felt the decision to award a spot-kick for a foul by Eduardo Vargas on Hazard was correct, while Rangers boss Harry Redknapp described it as “harsh”.
