Chelsea’s Kalas praised as Boro loan ends
Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has told the Teeside Gazette departing Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas has made a “massive contribution” to their promotion bid.
The on-loan Czech will return to Stamford Bridge after Boro’s trip to Norwich City on Friday night.
Kalas has made 16 appearances for Middlesbrough since joining in January and has helped them to fourth in the Championship, two points shy of league leaders Bournemouth with three games to play.
Karanka said: “Tomas has made a massive contribution.
“We needed another right-back – we had Ryan Fredericks but, to have two players in each position, we needed another player.
“Tomas arrived and he did very, very well. The main thing is that he wanted to play.
“Chelsea wanted Kalas to play games, and he played, and, I wanted Kalas to play, and he played.
“So Chelsea and us are very pleased with his attitude and his performances since he’s been here with us and Tomas is pleased to have played for us.”
