Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says Chelsea’s first defeat of the season will make no difference to their mindset – but believes it is vital they beat Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Blues failed to stretch their unbeaten run to 24 games against Newcastle on Saturday.
However, Mourinho’s side remain top of the Premier League table and have already qualified as group winners before their last Champions League Group G game at Stamford Bridge.
“I am so happy with everything,” Mourinho said. “We could not be in a better situation. We have nothing to change or to worry about.
“But when you lose a game, and this is important in our mentality, the next game you want to win.
“The defeat in Newcastle did not have an effect on us. I always said the defeat would arrive and would not arrive by complacency so is not a problem.
“I am more than happy with the players and our situation. I accept the defeat. It is a normal situation in a league like the Premier League.
“We are fine; we don’t need to change things, our philosophy or players.”
